Music with Mommie Classes Feature:

CD’s and curriculum created by award winning songwriter and veteran teacher, Stacy Jagger
The Music with Mommie™ CD’s and class activities are designed to create a “hip” and fun bonding experience between mother and child, while stimulating the minds of our little loved ones through a variety of rhythms, styles, instruments, and scales. Classes feature a combination of original, classic, and popular music featuring artists such as Dolly Parton, Peter Paul and Mary, Eric Clapton, Alison Krauss, Ella Fitzgerald, The Beach Boys, Celine Dion, Julio Iglesias, Patti Griffin, The Beatles, Ladysmith Black Mamboso, Donna Summer, Elvis Presley and Michael Jackson. In the words of one of our former teachers and long time supporters Holly Murrell, “This ain’t yo grannie’s music class!”

A High-Energy, Interactive Musical Experience for children, ages five months through five years, to attend with their mommies, grandmothers or nannies (we even get a brave daddy once in a while!). Class size is usually between 7 and 10 moms. We keep our little ones’ attention by changing our activities every 2-3 minutes. Each class is 45 minutes in length, with time after class to socialize and meet new friends in your community!

Instruments including bells, egg shakers, drums, triangles, rhythm sticks, castanets, maracas, tone blocks, hand bells, resonator bells, and props such as bubbles, scarves, and hula hoops.

Licensed instructors who are trained in the Music with Mommie curriculum. Each instructor provides a creative, interactive and energetic class atmosphere to enrich your child’s learning experience.

Your children will learn how to keep a beat, enhance their sense of rhythm, pitch, meter and melody – thereby honing speech, language, listening and focusing skills. What’s more, they are gaining self-confidence and self-esteem. Music with Mommie children also learn important social interaction skills, such as sharing, taking turns, and how to be part of a group.

A Relaxed and Casual Atmosphere Come prepared to play and meet new friends! Children join in as they are comfortable and do so at their own developmental level. Research shows that learning is stimulated through play. In the meantime, the mommies enjoy the fun, the friendship, and there is plenty of laughter to go around! (Laughter lightens burdens and improves digestion!)

Mixed age classes Activities focus on the mom/child interaction rather than child-to-child interaction, so that children of different ages can enjoy class together.

Research has proven that music instruction at an early age enhances spatial reasoning skills, which are critical for higher brain function and success in math and science. Early musical achievement promotes language development, fine/gross motor coordination, social behavior and interactions, self-expression, and symbolic thinking. In addition, music students demonstrate an increased ability to learn and retain new information quicker and easier.

Bonding and attachment between mother and child is enhanced– which has been shown to establish the core strengths on which we form our relationships, sense of security, resilience to stress and emotional flexibility. The brain at birth is programmed to connect us to a very significant person. How we relate to that special someone will profoundly influence every part of growth– physical, mental, emotional and intellectual.

Parenting becomes easier as music is incorporated into daily activities.

Each month our songs and themes change It is our hope that you will learn the songs, chants, and musical activities taught in class so that you can enjoy Music with Mommie all day long!
NOTE *** Human infants are born to dance, researchers have shown in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences. Psychologists from the United Kingdom and Finland played an assortment of classical and children’s songs, drumbeats, baby talk, and regular speech for 120 infants ages 5 to 24 months. Speech inspired little motion, but music consistently got the babies into the groove. They moved to music with a clear rhythm and adjusted their movements as the beat varied. And the better the babies matched their motion to the music, the more they smiled.
